This is the only type of dryer that can convert liquid feed solutions and slurries into dry powder in a single step. The solutions and slurries in fine atomised droplets are pumped in a stream of hot air inside a spray chamber. This atomised spray instantly vaporizes the water or the solvent present in the liquid feed and immediately forms the dry powder. Spray dryers are available in various Atomisation and Air Flow designs to suit the feed and product characteristics. A single spray dryer can be used for multi-product drying duty.
The dryer is designed and sized as per the customer's scheme preference, the production capacity required and the duty conditions suitable for the specific product. The plant is normally designed and rated for specific water / solvent evaporation capacity.
Rotary Atomisation
 
A wheel or disc rotating at high speed is used for atomizing the liquid feed. The wheel throws the liquid outward or tangentially at high velocities forming fine droplets / mist. Instant drying takes place in contact with hot air forming dry powder. This type is used for handling feed with varied properties & characteristics.
Nozzle Atomisation
 
Feed at high pressure passing through a spray nozzle can atomise the liquid into fine droplets and mist. This technique is used in nozzle atomisation spray dryers.

Different types of air flow patterns are possible with nozzle atomisation system. The choice of co-current or counter current, mixed flow design depends on the type of feed, the desired physical properties of end product. This type of spray dryer can be used for production of material in either granular or powder form.

The Spray dryer is available as complete package unit comprising of feeding system, air heating system, product collection, dust control, parameter controls and instrumentation's.

Optionally spray dryers are available with pre-concentration evaporators, slurry preparation equipment and product conditioning / handling systems.
